The 35-year-old car enthusiast a self-proclaimed "sandwich maker" Denaros Deli in Dumont, which his father Ivan purchased in 2004. Daily Voice interviewed Kormanik for a story on Denaro's back in 2016.
“I was always handy with tools and felt that is where my future would be,’’ he said at the time. “I enjoyed working with motors, but owning your own business is one of the best ways to go, especially in this economy."
This year, Denaro's celebrated its 20th year since being taken over by the Kormaniks.
Michael began working alongside his dad when he was in high school and has since become a familiar face at the shop.
In the 2016 Daily Voice report, Michael said he and his dad had formed an unbreakable bond working alongside each other.
Denaro's announced on Thursday, Sept. 26 it will closed until further notice.
Those who knew Michael remember him as a "nice guy" with a smile.
"The most devastating news," one person commented on the Denaro's post. "Deeply saddened in losing an amazing man."
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 27 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shook Funeral Home in Clifton. Parastas will be at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, Sept. 28 at 8:15 a.m. at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Cathedral in Passaic.
